    Carcharocles is an extinct genus of sharks, belonging to the order Lamniformes. They lived from the Late Eocene to the Late Pliocene. The genus usually includes Megalodon, however some taxonomic authorities place it in other genera. Some authors consider the genus a subgenus of Otodus.
