  1. Boxer

A Boxer is a breed of stocky, medium-sized, short-haired dogs bred in Germany. Their coat is smooth and tight-fitting; colors are fawn or brindled, with or without white markings, which may cover the entire body. Boxers are brachycephalic, and have a square muzzle, mandibular prognathism, very strong jaws, and a powerful bite ideal for hanging on to large prey. The Boxer was bred from the Old English Bulldog and the now extinct Bullenbeisser, and is part of the Molosser group. Boxers were first exhibited in a dog show for St. Bernards in Munich in 1895, the first Boxer club being founded the next year. Based on 2012 American Kennel Club statistics, Boxers held steady as the seventh most popular breed of dog in the United States for the third consecutive year.

Examples of boxer in a Sentence

  1. Senator Hatch:

I’ve always been a fighter, i was an amateur boxer in my youth and I’ve brought that fighting spirit with me to Washington. But a good fighter knows when to hang up the gloves, and for me, that time is soon approaching.

  2. Deodatta V. Shenai-Khatkhate:

Life bears an astonishingly closer resemblance to the boxing game IMHO. You see, in a boxing game, the boxer is declared defeated not when he has fallen but when he has refused to get up. That's why in life it doesn't matter how many times you fall; yet what matters in reality is how often you get up and rise. Good luck, my friend!

  3. Paul Simon:

In the clearing stands a boxer and a fighter by his trade and he carries the reminders of every glove that laid him down and cut him till he cried out in his anger and his shame “I am leaving, I am leaving” but the fighter still remains.

  4. Robert Smith:

Is a professional boxer going to drop everything to go and fight in the Olympics ? Pros take three rounds to warm up. It's a different discipline, i wouldn't have thought anyone who's already been there, done it, been a world champion, wants to go back and jeopardize what they've already achieved.

  5. De La Hoya:

When Ronda Rousey is ready to become a boxer, I told her Golden Boy Promotions is ready to welcome her with open arms, i’ve spoken with her a few times, she’s interested in becoming a boxer. If the UFC ever gives her permission, we're here.
