The song reached number seven on the UK Singles Chart but was Collins' first lead single since "Thru These Walls" to not hit the top 10 on the US Billboard Hot 100, reaching number 25. It charted the highest in Canada, peaking at number two on the RPM Top Singles chart. Although not a major commercial success, it won acclaim from some critics.
