Baraye
"Baraye" (Persian: برای, lit. "For" or "Because of") is a song by Iranian singer-songwriter Shervin Hajipour. Written and produced by Hajipour, it is a power ballad inspired by the death of Mahsa Amini and its aftermath. In the lyrics, all the sentences began with the word "Baraye" meaning "For", inspired by spreading of an Internet meme through the social media after Amini's death, by which —through phrases starting with the word "for"— the users explained their personal reasons for protesting and wishing for regime change in Iran, as a protest against all the Human rights violations by the Islamic Republic of Iran. The song was highly praised by music critics, calling it "the anthem" of the Mahsa Amini protests and received critical acclaim for its vocals and portraying the emotions of the Iranian people all around the world. Although all the music platforms are banned in Iran and there isn't any copyright law, the song has 6.3 million streams on Spotify, 2.3 million views on YouTube (Lyric video and Music video overall), 2.1 million streams on SoundCloud and millions of views and streams on other platforms, uploaded by unknown people illegally.
