    An aneurysm is a weakened or bulging area in the wall of a blood vessel, primarily in an artery, that can rupture, causing internal bleeding. Most commonly, it occurs in the aorta or the brain, but it can develop in any blood vessel. It can be congenital (present at birth) or can develop due to certain medical conditions such as high blood pressure or arteriosclerosis.
