  1. passports

A passport is an official travel document issued by a government that contains a person's identity. A person with a passport can travel to and from foreign countries more easily and access consular assistance. A passport certifies the personal identity and nationality of its holder. It is typical for passports to contain the full name, photograph, place and date of birth, signature, and the expiration date of the passport. While passports are typically issued by national governments, certain subnational governments are authorised to issue passports to citizens residing within their borders. Many nations issue (or plan to issue) biometric passports that contain an embedded microchip, making them machine-readable and difficult to counterfeit. As of January 2019, there were over 150 jurisdictions issuing e-passports. Previously issued non-biometric machine-readable passports usually remain valid until their respective expiration dates. A passport holder is normally entitled to enter the country that issued the passport, though some people entitled to a passport may not be full citizens with right of abode (e.g. American nationals or British nationals). A passport does not of itself create any rights in the country being visited or obligate the issuing country in any way, such as providing consular assistance. Some passports attest to the bearer having a status as a diplomat or other official, entitled to rights and privileges such as immunity from arrest or prosecution.

Examples of PASSPORTS in a Sentence

  1. Luke Hemsworth:

I really miss Australia. I miss eating fish ‘n chips, oh my God, and Australian pies and the wonderful corner shops. I miss good surf where there are three or four people, as opposed to LA where there’s 30 or 40. I see living here for now as a means to an end. It’s a time in our life where we have to live here and hopefully we’ll shift back to Australia, but we’re not locked in either way. Maybe it’s to my detriment but I’ve never looked further ahead than a year and a half. But the girls have had have a wonderful upbringing in terms of being able to move around. Their passports are hilarious in terms of where they’ve been, the older ones are holding onto their Australian accents but my youngest daughter in particular is very American. She’s really entrenched and I actually find it really hilarious, really cute.

  2. Keira Riley:

We had to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars in a month's time, plus get the girl's passports and visa's during a pandemic, no less, which is a whole other story, we looked into Right to Try when we first were exploring options, but unfortunately it didn't cover what our situation needed, especially because we had so little time on our hands. It was a literal race against time to get Keira this treatment she needed before symptoms started occurring.

  3. Sergio Queiroz:

They confessed that they used these false passports, but there was no harm done to the Paraguayan state.

  4. Doug Bannister:

We are in a post-Brexit environment, which means the transaction times through the borders are going to take longer because the passports need to be checked, they need to be stamped.

  5. Ted Cruz:

We need a commander-in-chief who will speak the truth, and who will unleash the full force and fury of the American military to utterly destroy ISIS and its affiliates, we need to pass the Expatriate Terrorist Act, so that known ISIS terrorists cannot use U.S. passports to return to America and wage jihad. We need a President who is serious – who will identify the enemy by name and do everything necessary to defeat it.
