When Aka-notum rallied the kingdoms to worship the creator through the sun, his kingdom was attacked and annihilated. Under siege, Aka-notum asked a few of his elders to flee with his grandson Atin'naana. The elders took the young prince who was just 9, down the Nile. For many days and nights the sailed until their boat struck a rock and wrecked. Atin'naana name this rock, Bolbatanga (Rock of the lost souls). However, in an effort to further conceal his identity, they called their new home Bolgatanga and instead of his real name, they called him, Ayiah (The lone survivor) When asked who they were, they simply said they were; Dapor'tinaama (Unifiers of the northern kingdoms). They also exclaimed that they held against their enemies and thereby called themselves - Gurusi (Those who stood their ground in battle).
