A selfish mentality that is very common among people, whereby an individual strives to achieve the standards that he wants; and that after achieving, denies responsibility or aid to other people who have yet to achieve the same standards.
Examples: Q: Why do more people become conservatives as they grow older? A: Possible explanation is the "I got mine, you get yours" mentality. Some of those who used to be liberals got the life and benefits they want, and when it's their turn to contribute more to taxes, discovered that a conservative-leaning benefits them more.
