Djagaverb
(Verb) Djaga: 01 - means to guard or protect. The spelling as we see it here stems from the times of the Dutch Indies now known as Indonesia - it is specifically part of the Moluccan ethnic spelling. 02 - Guardian. Name or title given to those who are bound to protect, guard or safekeep their community/organization in the Moluccas - Sometimes used as an endeering term amongst warriors (Djago - My Brothers Keeper).
Usage: to djaga your children is a necessity. (to guard your children is a must) 2. Djaga la hati - is a famous East-Indonesian expression for: Guard my heart. you will hear homeless kids singing this across the streets. 3. Siapa yang mendjaga djaga? (Moluccan) - Who is guarding the guards?
Etymology: Djaga stems from West Oceania / East-Indonesian archipelago. It is a proto-malayo polynesian root word. In modern Moluccan language, Djaga, depending on dialect stems from Chaka/Shaka or Caka. Such as the ancient Alifuru war dance of the Moluccas called (modern spelling:) Chaka Lele / Caka Lele. - The traditional West-Melanesian wardance is over 20.000 years old, and was performed by warriors and headhunter guilds to intimidate, call out or welcome opposing forces and inspire courage/strength in the participating warriors. Still in practice today in traditional events and occasions with a more ceremonious purpose. The West-Melanesian and proto-Polynesian root of the word might be indicative to the root word for the more recent wardance of Polynesia called "Haka" - famously popularized through Rugby.
