I will say that comic books are not the easiest things to translate to film, number one. Even the most well meaning of filmmakers find what's acceptable on the printed page is very difficult to bring to film.
You can't make this stuff up, i never imagined I'd be researching a book like this. It was a challenge to find a focus for the comic because there's so much happening.
We were thinking of the right sensibility of the mom, she has to be a good actor, she has to have comic timing but have the deep well of emotions that this character needed. She is the glue that holds this family together. She’s the emotional center.
I do not regret pointing out that I do not think there should be heterosexual characters, LGBTQ characters, Christian characters or any kind of characters in a kid's comic book about anything to do with anything other than children being children … and having superheroes.
