The East Side (E/S) 76 East Coast Crips (76 ECC), also known as the "Place Loc Crips", are a well-known and long standing African-American street gang founded in the unincorporated community of Florence in East Los Angeles, California during the 1960s. This gang is the largest of the many subsets under the large East Coast Crips umbrella gang in regards to geographical area. Their territory is concentrated along 76th street between Central Avenue and Compton Avenue in the Florence-Firestone neighborhood, just north of the city of Watts. However, most members can be found around 76th Place, hence the nickname "Place Loc Crips". The76 East Coast Crips have been around for decades and remain amongst the more active gangs in Los Angeles in regards to violence, despite their dwindling numbers. Members have been known to sport Philadelphia 76's hats to symbolize their turf. Rivals include the Family Swan Bloods, Be-Bop Watts Bloods, Grape Street Watts Crips, 87 Kitchen Crips, Rollin 40s Neighborhood Crips and the Florencia 13; who they share parts of their turf with. The 76 East Coast Crips are cliqued up with the 69 East Coast Crips and are friendly towards all Neighbor Hood Crips. Today, a sizable portion of their territory have been taken over by Florencia 13 due to changing demographics and decades of gang rivalries which have left their numbers decimated. The eastern portion of the area in which this gang considers its territory used to be controlled by Raymond Lee Washington's East Side Crips. Raymond Lee Washington grew up on 76th Street. 76th Street set of the East Coast Crips "hit-up" sending threats to the Florencia 13 gang ("flower" is a derogatory symbol for Florencia 13) and the Grape Street Watts Crips.
