  1. Ted Kennedy

Edward Moore "Ted" Kennedy was a United States Senator from Massachusetts and a member of the Democratic Party. He was the second most senior member of the Senate when he died and was the fourth-longest-serving senator in United States history, having served there for almost 47 years. As the most prominent living member of the Kennedy family for many years, he was also the last surviving son of Joseph P. Kennedy, Sr.; the youngest brother of President John F. Kennedy and Senator Robert F. Kennedy, both victims of assassination; and the father of Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy. Kennedy entered the Senate in a November 1962 special election to fill the seat once held by his brother John. He was elected to a full six-year term in 1964 and was reelected seven more times before his death. The Chappaquiddick incident on July 18, 1969, resulted in the death of his automobile passenger Mary Jo Kopechne. Kennedy pleaded guilty to a charge of leaving the scene of an accident and the incident significantly damaged his chances of ever becoming President of the United States. His one attempt, in the 1980 presidential election, resulted in a Democratic primary campaign loss to incumbent President Jimmy Carter.

Examples of ted kennedy in a Sentence

  1. Lawrence Moore:

Given the several decades That Sanders's been in politics, I don't think that That Sanders has the relationships with our community that That Sanders should have, i'm still very impressed by That Sanders positions on issues, but many other people have had those same positions. Sometimes Sanders' supporters act like That Sanders invented the idea of universal health care. But when I was in college at the University of South Carolina, I backed Ted Kennedy's 1980 presidential campaign against Jimmy Carter. I did so partly because of Kennedy's understanding that we need universal health care. And that idea had already been around before Ted Kennedy.

  2. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush:

I mean, Ted Kennedy and Stephen Hayes the journalist and Cat Stevens -- I mean, this is not a list that you can be certain of, if the FBI knows that someone's in our country and they're tracking them, they shouldn't be able to get guns for sure. But the no-fly list is a much broader list. It's not an accurate list to be able to use for restricting gun rights for law-abiding citizens.

  3. Steve King:

Ted Kennedy said,' this won't change the demographic makeup in America,' and he meant there'll be just as many Irish coming in as there used to be. And of course, that didn't turn out to be true, and now we have people kneeling on the sidelines at the pro football games out of disrespect to our flag and what it stands for.

  4. Mark Krikorian:

I don’t think Ted Kennedy was lying.

  5. Jim Dicke:

I support it, look, if Ronald Reagan didn't take the nomination away from Gerald Ford, and Ted Kennedy couldn't take the nomination away from Jimmy Carter, there is no way that a sitting president in the 21st century is going to be denied the nomination for a second term from his party if he wants it.
