lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus
Lymphocytic Choriomeningitis Virus (LCMV) is a type of viral infectious disease primarily carried by rodents, specifically the common house mouse. Humans can contract this virus through exposure to the urine, droppings, saliva, or nesting materials of infected mice. It is known to cause aseptic meningitis, encephalitis, or meningoencephalitis. Its symptoms are typically flu-like, including fever, fatigue, headache, muscle aches, nausea, and vomiting. In severe cases, LCMV can lead to neurological conditions such as meningitis. Some individuals, however, may remain asymptomatic.
