When I started experiencing mild flu-like symptoms earlier this week, I consulted my primary care physician. Thank you to my doctor Bill DiCuccio and the staff at Butler Memorial for their excellent care. My symptoms remain mild, and I will serve the 16th district from home until I fully recover. Additionally, my staff is tele-working and still available to constituents who need assistance.
The vaccines are all standing up pretty well -- Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson Johnson -- for severe disease, now, that's not to say that we might not eventually get to a point where we really need people to get boosters to prevent more severe illness. But, really, the majority of the breakthrough infections are colds, maybe flu-like illness -- not the scary illnesses that we were facing before. So my main message is, don't panic. You're going to be okay.
It will be quitedifficult if somebody is infected with either COVID-19 or the flu and they have a flu-like illness or cold-like symptoms.
I have known more than 20 people that have had the virus, two being my son-in-law and his 70-something-year-old father. He and the rest recovered within a week, yes, they were all sick and miserable during that time but said it wasnt anything more than flu-like symptoms.
What we are encouraging countries to do is focus on better management of patients, because if you manage the patient and you prevent the deaths, what we basically do is we turn dengue into a sort of normal flu-like thing. Which comes and goes.
