Bawblenoun
A gew-gaw; a trifling piece of finery; a thing of more show than use; a trifle. It is in general, whether applied to persons or things, a term of contempt.
Etymology: Baubellum, in barbarous Latin, signified a jewel, or any thing valuable, but not necessary. Omnia baubella sua dedit Othoni . Howden. Probably from beau, Fr.
