    Dracenaceae, also known as the dragon tree family, is a subfamily of the Asparagaceae family. It comprises evergreen trees, shrubs and succulent species commonly found in Africa, the Socotra Island, and Canary Islands. Typical characteristics of these plants include single or multiple stems, resinous, spongy-inside trunks, spiral whorl leathery leaves, and clusters of small fragrant flowers. The most well-known species of this family is the Dracaena draco, or Dragon Tree.
