Wikipedia
platform bed
A bed base, sometimes called a foundation, is the part of a bed that supports the mattress. The bed base can itself be held in place and framed by the bedstead (bed frame). In the United States, box-spring bed bases are very common (to the point where 'bed base' and 'box spring' may be used synonymously, and the term "platform bed" is used for any other type of bed base). In Europe, sprung slats are much more common. Typically the measurements of a foundation will be about 1–2 inches (2.5–5.1 cm) shorter than the measurements of a mattress. In hot climates, mattress may be omitted.

platform bed
A platform bed is a type of bed frame that supports the mattress without the need for a box spring. It usually comprises a solid or slatted surface that can support different types of mattresses, raised off the ground by legs or framing. Modern platform beds are known for their sleek design and often incorporate storage options like drawers or shelves.

Platform bed
A Platform bed, also known as a cabin bed, is a bed the base of which consists of a raised, level, usually rectangular horizontal solid frame, often with a section consisting of rows of flexible wooden slats or latticed structure meant to support just a mattress. This platform provides adequate, flexible support and ventilation for a mattress by itself, eliminating the need for a box-spring or a second mattress as a foundation.
