Samuel Johnson's Dictionary
Mulberry, Mulberry treenoun
morus, Lat. The mulberry tree hath large, rough, roundish leaves; the male flowers, or katkins, which have a calyx consisting of four leaves, are sometimes produced upon separate trees, at other times at remote distances from the fruit on the same tree: the fruit is composed of several protuberances, to each of which adhere four small leaves; the seeds are roundish, growing singly in each protuberance; it is planted for the delicacy of the fruit. The white mulberry is commonly cultivated for its leaves to feed silkworms, in France and Italy, though the Persians always make use of the common black mulberry for that purpose. Philip Miller
Etymology: morberig , Saxon;
Morton, archbishop of Canterbury, was content to use mor upon a tun; and sometimes a mulberry tree, called morus in Latin, out of a tun. William Camden, Remains.

That will not hold the handling. William Shakespeare, Coriolanus.A body black, round, with small grain like tubercles on the surface; not very unlike a mulberry. John Woodward, Fossils.
Wikipedia
mulberry tree
Morus, a genus of flowering plants in the family Moraceae, consists of diverse species of deciduous trees commonly known as mulberries, growing wild and under cultivation in many temperate world regions. Generally, the genus has 64 identified species, three of which are well-known and are ostensibly named for the fruit color of the best-known cultivar: white, red, and black mulberry (Morus alba, M. rubra, and M. nigra, respectively), with numerous cultivars. M. alba is native to South Asia, but is widely distributed across Europe, Southern Africa, South America, and North America. M. alba is also the species most preferred by the silkworm, and is regarded as an invasive species in Brazil and the United States.The closely related genus Broussonetia is also commonly known as mulberry, notably the paper mulberry (Broussonetia papyrifera).
