andreas vesalius
Andreas Vesalius (1514 – 1564) was a Belgian anatomist and physician who is often referred to as the founder of modern human anatomy. He is best known for his work 'De humani corporis fabrica' (On the Fabric of the Human Body), which is considered one of the most important books in the history of medicine and biology. Vesalius challenged the traditional approach to anatomy, which was based largely on the works of Galen, a Greek physician from the 2nd century AD, by conducting dissections on human cadavers himself and accurately documenting his observations. His work played a major role in the Scientific Revolution during the Renaissance period.
