agave americana
Agave Americana, commonly known as the American aloe or century plant, is a species of flowering plant in the Asparagaceae family. It is native to Mexico, the southwestern United States, and Central America but has been introduced to other regions around the world. The plant, growing up to 6 meters (20 feet) tall, is characterized by its large, thick, fleshy leaves that form a rosette shape, with sharp spikes along the edges and a long, sturdy flowering stalk. It's called the "century plant" because it's believed to flower once every 100 years, however, it typically flowers between 10 to 30 years. After flowering, it typically dies and produces offsets or 'pups' that continue its growth cycle.
