Crime Prevention:" The anticipation, recognition, and appraisal of a crime risk, and the initiation of action to remove or eliminate that risk".
First came across that definition in 1989, from a Home Office publication: Crime prevention Management. The principle was to identify a crime trend, analysing the frequency, location, likely perpetrators, the time factor; using the core triangle of crime: Opportunity, target and perpetrator.
