People with PTSD tend to act out. They tend to self-medicate. Which means they're going to be on drugs or they may be an alcoholic. And then they're going to get into fights and they have a really short fuse. And guess what happens ? All of a sudden you don't qualify for VA. We’ve taken the clinical part out of it, i think medicine can be useful if someone is in an acute state, and I think there’s a place for that. When you’re a former type-A male, you don’t want to admit that you’re depressed, that anything’s wrong, which is one reason you medicate more to get away from the reality of your circumstance, you certainly don’t want to show any weakness— that’s one of the obstacles to healing, the inability to really face who you are and what happened.
