Ophthalmia is inflammation of the eye. It is a medical sign which may be indicative of various conditions, including sympathetic ophthalmia, gonococcal ophthalmia, trachoma or "Egyptian" ophthalmia, ophthalmia neonatorum, actinic conjunctivitis, and others.
