Does this "shock" include the discovery "big lies" that we have been fed most of our lives, from what we are made to believe are authoritative sources?
For example: We are taught that even to think there might be a grand conspiracy to deprive the unaware of their inalienable rights makes one a paranoid "theorist" and all evidence to support such a "theory" dismissed by these same "sources". But when one's mind, previously programmed to dismiss such notions, reaches a watershed virdict, it is a shock! And it does change radically how one looks at the world, your worldview, and how one looks at both history and current events. And that's a major change that might qualify under this definition.
    But does it?
