The United States, Russia, France, India, and Israel have all developed such air defense systems. In the United States, missile defense was originally the responsibility of the Army. Examples of missile defense in a Sentence

  1. United States:

Missile Defense Review states that North Korea has yet to achieve the capability to credibly threaten the United States homeland. North Korea has not conducted enough tests to establish confidence in a reliable, working missile. But we have to assume that North Korea has a nuclear-armed ICBM that could strike the United States, even if the missile only have a 50 % chance of hitting a major United States city, that's enough to establish a modicum of deterrence.

  2. Ivan Konovalov:

There's a very high chance Iskanders will be deployed in Kaliningrad, but the Iskanders are our ace card in the standoff over missile defense and NATO's activity around our borders. We need to use it cleverly. There's a big game going on and we don't want to throw it away at the start. We'll play it when Russia needs it most politically.

  3. Igor Ivanov:

It can be assured that once the U.S. deploys its missile defense system in Poland, Russia would respond by deploying its own missile defense system in Kaliningrad.

  4. South Korea Mark Lippert:

We've moved, over time, a good deal of missile defense capability to the region, ground-based interceptors to Alaska, surface combatants to the Western Pacific, a THAAD battery on Guam, another radar in Japan in order to be ready and vigilant for anything the North Koreans may or may not do.

  5. Craig Cooning:

With Admiral Syring, we are looking to make what we do in missile defense more like space programs and less like defense weapons programs. There’s a higher design reliability in space than there historically has been in some weapons programs.
