1. Lakshmipur District

   Lakshmipur District is located in the southeastern part of Bangladesh, within the Chittagong division. It covers an area of 1,440.39 square kilometers (556.14 square miles) and has a population of 1,938,111 people, according to the 2022 census. The district has a population density of 1,300 people per square kilometer (3,500 people per square mile). Lakshmipur is a coastal district located in the southeastern part of Bangladesh. It is bordered by Chandpur district to the north, Noakhali district to the east, Noakhali and Bhola districts to the south, and Bhola and Barisal districts to the west. The district is situated at 2301030' North latitude and 90038' to 90001' East longitude. The name of the district has various origins, with some saying that it was named after a mouza called "Lakshmipur" on the west side of Baanchanagar and Sankarabad mouza. Another theory suggests that the name comes from Laksmidah Pargana in the seventeenth century, while others believe it was named after a man named Laksmi Narayan Roy or Raja Gaur Kishore's wife, Lakshmi Priya, who were both prominent figures in the region. Lakshmipur was first established in 1860 and later transformed into a municipality in 1976. The district was officially formed on July 28, 1984, and currently comprises five upazilas, four municipalities, 474 mouzas, and 547 villages. Lakshmipur is home to a diverse range of religious sites, including mosques, temples, and mathas. The region's culture has flourished in both Hindu and Muslim communities, with proof found in the archaeological remains of the district.
