Wikipedia

  1. Innogen

Innogen is a female character in legendary early British history. She was the wife of Brutus of Troy, the purported first king of Britain who lived in the 12th century BC. According to the legend, prior to his settling in Britain, Brutus overthrew the Greek king Pandrasus and was awarded the hand in marriage of Pandrasus' daughter Innogen. The name Innogen is an evident cognate of inghean, a now-obsolete Irish and Scottish Gaelic word, meaning "daughter". Innogen or its equivalent appeared in early Celtic documentations of the legend of Brutus likely to identify her only as being the daughter of Pandrasus, rather than to indicate her proper name. Innogen was a character in a lost play by Henry Chettle and John Day entitled The Conquest of Brute with the first finding of the Bath which was performed by the Lord Admiral's Men at the Rose in December 1598. The name Imogen possibly originated as a misspelling or variation of Innogen.
