  1. In Theory

"In Theory" is the 25th episode of the fourth season of the American science fiction television series Star Trek: The Next Generation, originally aired on June 3, 1991 in broadcast syndication. The episode was the directorial debut of cast member Patrick Stewart, and was written by Joe Menosky and Ronald D. Moore. Set in the 24th century, the series follows the adventures of the crew of a Starfleet starship, the USS Enterprise-D. In this episode, while the ship explores a dark matter nebula, Data enters into a romantic relationship with crewmember Jenna D'Sora. Scarabelli appeared in Alien Nation prior to appearing as a guest star in this episode. The critical response to the episode was mixed, with criticism directed at both the nature of D'Sora and Data's relationship and the nature of the subplot, especially the scenes where Captain Picard pilots the shuttlecraft.
