Fielmann AG is a German company focusing on optical retail. External sales in Europe with 736 stores in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands (including franchises and industries) amounted to €1.65 billion in sales and 8.15 million glasses in 2018. Over 24 million people wear Fielmann glasses. Pre-tax profit increased at 0,9% to €250,9 million, income increased at 0,4% to €173,6 million. At the end of 2018 Fielmann operated 736 stores, employed 19,379 people, 3,417 of whom were in training. With only 5% of all optical stores, Fielmann trains more than 40% of Germany's future opticians. The Fielmann stock is listed in the German MDAX index and at the northern German regional HASPAX index. With 5% of all optical stores, Fielmann achieved a 21% sales market share and a 53% market share in terms of units sold. Fielmann is market leader in Germany and Europe's largest optician.Within the Co-CEO governance framework established in April last year, all reporting lines as well as the executive leadership were transferred from Günther Fielmann to Marc Fielmann. In the current business year Marc Fielmann, CEO of Fielmann AG, will also take over responsibility for Fielmann’s corporate strategy.
