A single 64 kilobits per second (kb/s) (or 64000 bits per second) channel. The basis of the traditional "modern" (automated) PSTN TDM network. Designed to carry a single voice channel sampled using 8 bits (Y Axis) at 8000 times a second (X axis == time domain). Can also be used to transport data. This includes TDM end-to-end circuits (although usually a DS1 / T1 is used instead), and by way of an analog modem (providing no more than 56 kb/s down (towards the analog modem), and 33.6 kb/s up (towards the Internet Service Provider (ISP))).
