  1. Bogart's

Bogart's is a music venue located in the Corryville neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio, near the University of Cincinnati, across the street from Sudsy Malone's Rock 'n Roll Laundry & Bar. The building was originally a vaudeville theater built in 1905, put out of business in 1955 due partly to the emergence of television. During the 1960s, it was a German film theater. The Bogart's venue opened in the mid-1970s as a 250-seat club, but it was expanded in 1993 to a 1,500-seat venue. In 1997, Bogart's was taken over by Nederlander Concerts. SFX bought most of Nederlander's concert operations in 1999. Prior to its expansion, Bogarts used to host theme nights, such as the Casablanca club theme when Bogart's first opened. They hosted a wide variety of comedians, ranging from Billy Crystal to Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong. Bogarts showcased a variety of national recording artists. Many very successful bands gained fame and following through the shows put on at Bogart's; bands like Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and so on. Through the early eighties, Bogart's was the proving ground for many up-coming metal bands of the time. The highly intimate setting offered an up-close experience, very often allowing the crowd to flow on to the stage with most of the current metal bands such as Testament, Slayer, Death, Dark Angel, Overkill, WASP and many, many more. While metal often ruled, Bogart's had performances of varied styles, nearly every night of the week.
