The name Anchal means the land of five proverbs. What characterizes this town is its quick pace of development. Advantages of being located strategically between NH-208 and the MC road has helped Anchal to emerge as a hub of development in Kollam Dist. Anchal is an educational centre in the district having many educational institutions such as the St.John's College, St. John's Central School, Sabarigiri School, Govt.
