Air Reconnaissance Ground Unit Support
ARGUS was an L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. supplementary helicopter patrol that provided patrol support for contract cities that elected to pay for the service as well as adjoining unincorporated areas east and southeast of the county seat of Los Angeles. The ARGUS program began providing service in 1968 to the cities of La Mirada, Norwalk, Santa Fe Springs, Pico Rivera and South El Monte as well as unincorporated areas covered by Pico Rivera, Norwalk, and East L.A. stations. The patrols were based on the pioneering Sky Knight program at Lakewood Station and ended some time in the 1980's.
