Wikipedia

  1. Slowly

Slowly is a 1954 song by Webb Pierce, written by Pierce and Nashville songwriter Tommy Hill (brother of singer Goldie Hill). The song was one of Pierce's more successful singles, spending seventeen weeks at the top of the Country and Western Best Sellers lists and a total of thirty-six weeks in the chart. Beyond its success as a song, "Slowly" was hugely influential in the history of country music, in that it was among the first (and certainly the most successful to date) songs to feature a pedal steel guitar. The song's iconic intro, played by Bud Isaacs, was said to have sent legions of lap steel guitar players scurrying to their closets for wire coat hangers, with which they attempted to modify their existing instruments to get the pitch shifting effect achieved by Isaacs.

Examples of Slowly in a Sentence

  1. Christian Yates:

What we've been able to tease out from the mathematical model is it's not necessarily that these cells are migrating in a directed way, actually these cells are diffusing, there's no direction to their migration. It's like when you put a drop of milk into a cup of coffee that you haven't stirred. Eventually that milk will be spread evenly throughout your coffee, and these cells are doing the same sort of thing - they're moving in an undirected manner and eventually, slowly, they manage to fully colonize the skin of this animal.

  2. Mark Tregellas:

The electricity is slowly coming back but everyone is reliant on generators, and fuel for those is very limited, people have now run out of petrol so most in the town are now riding on bicycles.

  3. Wendy Suzuki:

You can't force your heart rate to slow down, but you can consciously start to breathe deeply and slowly. And you can do it stealthily.

  4. Peter Gash:

I have no doubt that they (UNESCO delegates) had a perception that the barrier reef was dead. That it was doomed, it was down, it was in a bad place. And that's not the case at all, it's my belief, and it's the belief of many people, that the barrier reef has turned the corner and it's slowly improving.

  5. The USGS:

The magma chamber is likely imparting its own stresses on the crust around and above it, as the system slowly recharges. The stress drives fluids through cracks, producing the small quakes. The current pattern of seismicity is similar to swarms seen at Mount St. Helens in 2013 and 2014; recharge swarms in the 1990s had much higher earthquake rates and energy release.
