Hamwood is the name of a house in County Meath, Ireland. The house was built in 1779 by Charles Hamilton, agent for the Duke of Leinster. The name is the result of merging HAMilton and ChetWOOD. I think that Charles' mother or wife was a Chetwood (aka Chetwode).
