Wikidata

  1. Braggadocio

Braggadocio is a geometrically constructed sans-serif stencil typeface designed by W.A. Woolley in 1930 for the Monotype Corporation. The design was based on Futura Black. Though a stencil face, Braggadocio bears comparison with the heavier weighted Didone faces like Thorogood, Poster Bodonii, and Fat Face. A product of the Art Deco era, Braggadocio shares similarities with Architype Albers and Futura Black, the typeface used in the wordmark of Au Bon Pain, a U.S. restaurant-bakery chain. The lowercase characters a, f, c, s and y have terminals similar to the Fat Face model. The face is atypical in a topological sense in that none of the characters has a circular counter-form.

Chambers 20th Century Dictionary

brag-a-dō′shi-o, n. and adj. a braggart or boaster: empty boasting. [From Braggadochio, a boastful character in Spenser's Faerie Queene.]

Examples of BRAGGADOCIO in a Sentence

  1. John Leguizamo:

Twenty-three people were shot in El Paso for just being Latin and you dont care so youregonna vote for this braggadocio president? I just feel like its self-defeating and selfish.

  2. Matt Damon:

When Matt Damon see Harvey Weinstein and Al Franken taking a picture putting Harvey Weinstein and Al Franken hands on that woman’s flak jacket and mugging for the camera … that is just like a terrible joke, and it’s not funny. It’s wrong, and he should n’t have done that, but when you talk about Harvey Weinstein and what Harvey Weinstein’s accused of, there are no pictures of that. Harvey Weinstein knew Harvey Weinstein was up to no good. There’s no witnesses. There’s no pictures. There’s no braggadocio. That stuff happened secretly, because it was criminal and he knew it. So they don’t belong in the same category.
