The desire to land humans at a location where they might be able to extract water ice from the ground has been pushing mission planners to consider higher latitude sites, but the latter environments are typically colder and more challenging for humans and robots. If there were equatorial locations where ice might be found at shallow depth, then we’d have the best of both environments: warmer conditions for human exploration and still access to ice.

There’s one hypothesis from a prominent mycologist who suggests that the reason the body’s temperature is 98.6 is because that is the temperature where fungi can’t grow that well. And so, now we’re seeing Candida auris and some of the other new microbes that have come up that really grow quite well – even at temperatures of 98.6 in the human body. And so I think climate change, really selecting for these organisms to adapt to a warmer climate, is going to increase the odds that there’s infection in humans.

Other factors are more important for Gulf hurricanes, wind shear, mid-level moisture and having pre-existing disturbances that develop once they reach the Gulf( or track into the Gulf from elsewhere). Lizards and turtles sit in the sun and bask, and we may have to consider similar' behavioral' thermoregulation in ornithischians with exceptionally low metabolic rates. Cold-blooded dinosaurs also might have had to migrate to warmer climates during the cold season, and climate may have been a selective factor for where some of these dinosaurs could live.

Right now, we have about 90 % population immunity, meaning people who have either been naturally infected or immunized or both -- that's good. We're moving into the warmer climates -- that's good. This is really basically, at its heart, a winter virus. The numbers are way down from where they had been -- that's good. But you still had 150,000 cases yesterday and 1,000 deaths. That's still a lot of cases and deaths, so, what I would say is, independent of whether there's mandates or not, I think people should reasonably wear masks when they're indoors for the next few weeks, until we're much farther down then where we are right now.

Global warming is happening, and I always sound like a broken record because we've basically broken the climate, we need to keep tracking what's happening to the planet. And even though it's doing what we expect, it's getting warmer because we've got more greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. We don't get any satisfaction as scientists from being proven right on this. We would much rather have been wrong.

The really important thing is to not get hung up on the ranking of one particular year but rather kind of see the bigger picture of ever-warming temperatures, and that ever-warming doesn't mean every year will be warmer than the next, but that was what we've seen so far with every decade warmer than the next — and this is quite likely to continue.

Warmer atmospheric temperatures, in general, will mean the freezing levels are higher than they've been in the past, but while storms vary, even without climate change and some can be extra warm, just by natural situation, it's clear the background warming should increase the [ freezing ] levels.

Ten thousand years ago, you can look at the record and we have warmer temperatures on the Earth than we do today. Because it goes up and down, we've had freezing periods in the 1970s. They said it was going to be a new cooling period. And now it gets warmer and gets colder, and that's called Mother Nature. But the idea that hurricanes or wildfires were caused just in the last few years is just fallacy.

In other words, while the globe may be warmer than average as a whole, some areas will still observe colder temperatures and even severe cold outbreaks, this regional variation is due to the influences of the oceans, mountains, deserts, ice sheets, and other geographic features that all affect our weather and climate. It's also from changes in weather patterns that are related to the position of the jet stream( storm track), which can vary from day-to-day or even month-to-month.

One such example is a cold snap, which can happen due to sudden changes in atmospheric circulation and may not be linked to climate change, texas is a good example of this ; even though parts of it experienced extreme cold weather earlier this year when air from the Arctic was pushed south, looking at the long-term change in temperature tells us that Texas is 1.5 degrees warmer on average now than it was 100 years ago. That's climate.
