By having two independent teams simultaneously arrive at the same conclusions really lends weight to the result, there's definitely going to be a lot of refining going on to improve the methods but these two results show that it's really something we should be investing time in.

Any opportunity they can to pull people’s eyes and ears away from that they take, the right-wing media circus fringe has immediately focused not on this run-of-the-mill investigation just reporting the facts, but jumped to outrageous egregious conclusions that they were trying to, that they have ties to terrorists and that they were stealing data.

We want to make sure the conclusions the intelligence community reached are supported by the underlying raw data. That will part of the discussions when I visit Moscow next week is to call upon Foreign Minister Lavrov and the Russian government to fulfill the obligation it made to the international community when it agreed to be the guarantor of the elimination of the chemical weapons, and why Russia has not been able to achieve that is unclear to me. I don't draw conclusions of complicity at all, but clearly they've been incompetent and perhaps they've just simply been out-maneuvered by the Syrians.

I would like to draw three main conclusions, number one, the Earth is warmer in 1988 than at any time in the history of instrumental measurements. The conclusions of the reports were that there was no way military assets could have made it in time, it’s unfair to blame military troops and officers who did the best they could. The State Department didn’t get in the way of the military. As I said, we can continue to try to make conspiracy theories out of all of this.
