The South Dakota law is different, it is modeled after the Texas law, and it says when that heartbeat is detected, that then abortion is not an option. They want to make it to where candidates that you may not even agree with or approve get money from taxpayers. I mean, it's just ridiculous what they're trying to do here to federalize these elections when it's perfectly clear in our Constitution in Article Two, Section One, Clause Two that the state legislatures are given the right exclusively to set the voting laws in the states and in the union.

The Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment prohibits the Government from imposing religious-based restrictions on the personal decisions of individual citizens, here, the State attempts to use religious criteria to decree to which secondary school parents may send their children simply because the parents receive generally available tuition assistance. This law strikes at the heart of, and is clearly prohibited by, the Free Exercise Clause.

The Supreme Court's procedural order not only wipes away two lower court rulings, but it also orders dismissal of the entire dispute -- leaving for some other time resolution of the many questions Trump's conduct raised about The Emoluments Clause, ordinarily, The Supreme Court pursues such a step only when the prevailing party moots a case while the appeal is pending -- as opposed to here, where the disputes became moot because Trump's term ended.

You can look through the entire Michigan election code that was written by the legislature and signed by governors of both parties. There is no role for the legislature in this process, michigan has a pretty strong separation of powers clause. And appointing members of the Electoral College is not legislating, it's not passing a law. And there's nothing in the Michigan Constitution that would authorize the legislature to do that.

When I heard about the search warrant for Senator Burr's cell phone, my first thought was' speech or debate clause,' in the case of the FBI's Saturday night raid on Congressman Jefferson's office in the Rayburn House Office Building, Rayburn House had the look and feel of an invasion of Congressional sacred space. And on a bipartisan basis, Congress raised holy hell. Showing up at a Senator's personal residence and politely taking possession of a cell phone ? Not the same vibe.
