We’re part of a 16% minority, it is a micro minority or a super minority. This whole ‘greater Idaho’ thing I find so ironic because here they are saying, ‘We’re a 44% minority in Oregon. This is outrageous. How can we be expected to live as part of a 44% minority?’ This is a bit hilarious to me as part of a 16% minority. We certainly don’t get our policy preferences very often.

You know, there's thousands and thousands of kids that have gone through these horrifying gender surgeries. And in places like Oregon, 15-year-olds can have these genital reassignment surgeries without the consent of their parents. I mean, that is absolutely horrifying, whatever people agree on — trans issues, LGBT — these are kids. You know, the fact that a kid can go behind their parents that can do this is absolutely shocking. And Cloud was just trying to highlight that there are kids out there, and they need their voices heard, and they shouldn't be silenced.

We call on the legislature to let each half of the state go their separate ways in peace. If western Oregon doesn’t like the risk of being forced to accept the gubernatorial candidate it voted against, then it should simply stop holding our counties captive in this unhappy marriage. Actually, it’s not even as dramatic as a divorce, because we’re not breaking up a family. Moving a state border issimilar to redistrictinga utility provider.

The one thing you always have to remember is majorities are not given – they’re earned, we never take anything for granted, but I feel good because of the quality of the candidates we have running from Rhode Island to New Hampshire to Connecticut to Oregon to Washington to Arizona to California.

We have a mental health crisis in our country, and you have these pharmaceuticals that have all of these side effects and have all these other externalities, and here, you know, like I applaud Oregon for the step they took this last election, you know, decriminalizing small amounts of drugs, and realizing you can’t arrest your way out of addiction. … If you criminalize addiction, you have what we have, and that is one of the core tenants of mass incarceration.

I hope that people are sick of the inflation. I think they're sick of being the poorest congressional district in the state. I think they're sick of the rising crime rate, rising groceries and everything, it just seems like this country is really at a turning point. And if we can't win in an open seat in this kind of a year in Oregon, it just seems like we're hopeless. So I certainly hope that we can take back the House and win a lot of these competitive seats in a year like this.

Being the poorest congressional district in the state, we can afford inflation, and we can afford gas prices the least of any other part of the state of Oregon, and particularly just about any other part of the West Coast. I mean, this is a very blue collar, working class district and people are not getting more for their money. They're getting significantly less.

What you're seeing is the drug cartels, and how powerful they really are and how this administration isn't addressing that. We talk about why [migrants] are coming to America — we're talking about money, and we're talking about drugs, and we're talking about how they can exploit Latinos from Mexico, but also exploit the American population, so when I talk about Oregon… what we have to address is the fentanyl crisis. Because of this open border, these failed policies, it allows for that drug crisis and drug cartels to traffic right up into Oregon and our fentanyl crisis is higher than the national average in deaths.
