The east coast of Yorkshire is known as the Dinosaur Coast for very good reasons, although these different types do not necessarily represent the same number of different dinosaurs, they do indicate a diverse ecosystem of animals including both carnivores and herbivores that roamed the Jurassic coastal plain and (river) complex some 160-175 million years ago. The prints also allow us to interpret their behaviour. Thus, we have records of walking, running and swimming dinosaurs.

The most intriguing feature of our footprint is a long portion preserved at the back of the foot, which is an impression of what we call the metapodium, the presence of this might suggest our large meat-eater was squatting down in the mud, before standing up and walking away. It’s fun to think this dinosaur might well have been strolling along a muddy coastal plain one lazy Sunday afternoon in the Jurassic.

Such nesting colonies would have been a sight to see back in the Cretaceous where the landscape would have been dotted by a huge number of large dinosaur nests.

Compton Bay is a famous site for dinosaur fossils on the Isle of Wight. Most of these come from the older Wessex Formation, which was teaming with dinosaurs, our spinosaurs are indeed from the Vectis Formation, and bones( dinosaurs or otherwise) are rare in that formation( which is made up of several rock layers).

Oddball dinosaurs tend to offer insight into the extremes of dinosaur evolution. The more specimens the better to understand how they got to be so odd, i think this study is a good one to keep the ball rolling but more work is always needed to get a better picture of the life of something so strange and far removed in time.

This is the first early armoured dinosaur to be named from the entire Asian continent and helps to show how the group spread around the world shortly after its origin just a few million years earlier.

Given the likely symptoms this animal suffered from, holding these infected bones in your hands, you can't help but feel sorry for Dolly, we've all experienced these same symptoms -- coughing, trouble breathing, a fever, etc. -- and here's a 150-million-year-old dinosaur that likely felt as miserable as we all do when we're sick.

It is an amazing specimen... I have been working on dinosaur eggs for 25 years and have yet to see anything like it, up until now, little has been known of what was going on inside a dinosaur's egg prior to hatching, as there are so few embryonic skeletons, particularly those that are complete and preserved in a life pose.

Most known non-avian dinosaur embryos are incomplete with skeletons disarticulated( bones separated at the joints), we were surprised to see this embryo beautifully preserved inside a dinosaur egg, lying in a bird-like posture. This posture had not been recognized in non-avian dinosaurs before.

The more we looked at the footprint and toe impression shapes and proportions, the less they resembled tracks made by predatory dinosaurs -- this monster dinosaur was definitely a much friendlier plant-eater.

As I'm becoming more and more a dinosaur in this league at 31 years old, I've got to do every little thing I can to get the ball to go a little farther, when you're that far away, there's a level of you have to abandon a certain amount of your technique... to gain a little power and use the adrenaline and the feeling of the moment to get the ball to go. I hop into it just a little more aggressively.

It's the closest thing we have to a real life dragon, it was essentially just a skull with a long neck, bolted on a pair of long wings. This thing would have been quite savage. It would have cast a great shadow over some quivering little dinosaur that wouldn't have heard it until it was too late.

It became clear that there were two main factors, first that overall climates were becoming cooler, and this made life harder for the dinosaurs which likely relied on warm temperatures, then, the loss of herbivores made the ecosystems unstable and prone to [an] extinction cascade. We also found that the longer-lived dinosaur species were more liable to extinction, perhaps reflecting that they could not adapt to the new conditions on Earth.

The discovery of charcoal together with a fern-filled stomach opens a window into the biology of this large herbivorous armoured dinosaur as it suggested Borealopelta was likely a keystone herbivore that shaped the landscape by its grazing, and that it also grazed on the ferns growing in open areas created by wildfires, that is so cool.

This discovery overturns decades-old ideas that non-bird dinosaurs were restricted to terrestrial environments, so, yes, we believe that this discovery does indeed revolutionize our understanding of dinosaur biology.

To me, its always amazing to find that if you have something like a huge fossilized dinosaur bone, its fossilized on the microscopic level as well, and by comparing these fossilized microstructures to similar features found in modern bone, we know they provide clues to metabolism, growth rate, and age.
