    Titoism was Josip Broz Tito's Yugoslav doctrine in Cold War international politics. Its background was the Yugoslav Partisans' liberation of Yugoslavia independently of, or without much help from, the Red Army, resulting in Yugoslavia being the only Eastern European country to remain "socialist, but independent" after WWII and resisting Cold War pressure to become a member of the Warsaw Pact until the collapse of Soviet socialism in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The term was originally used by the Soviet Union to denote it as a heresy. Today it is used to refer to Yugo-nostalgia.
