The Thar Desert, also known as the Great Indian Desert, is a large, arid region in the northwestern part of the Indian subcontinent. It forms a natural boundary between India and Pakistan and covers about 200,000 square kilometers. This desert is the world's 17th largest desert, and the world's 9th largest subtropical desert. It is mainly located in the Indian state of Rajasthan, and extends into the southern portion of Haryana and Punjab states and into northern Gujarat state.
