    Teredo is a networking protocol that allows computers behind a firewall and without a direct IP address, to obtain remote connectivity for some applications, especially peer-to-peer and audio/video streaming applications. It's used to grant secure access for different systems over the internet by tunneling IPv6 (Internet Protocol version 6) traffic over IPv4 (Internet Protocol version 4) networks. The name "Teredo" comes from a type of shipworm that digs tunnels into wooden structures that are immersed in sea water.
