Wikipedia
Supercharger
In an internal combustion engine, a supercharger compresses the intake gas, forcing more air into the engine in order to produce more power for a given displacement. The current categorisation is that a supercharger is a form of forced induction that is mechanically powered (usually by a belt from the engine's crankshaft), as opposed to a turbocharger, which is powered by the kinetic energy of the exhaust gasses. However, up until the mid-20th century, a turbocharger was called a "turbosupercharger" and was considered a type of supercharger. The first supercharged engine was built in 1878, with usage in aircraft engines beginning in the 1910s and usage in car engines beginning in the 1920s. In piston engines used by aircraft, supercharging was often used to compensate for the lower air density at high altitudes. Supercharging is less commonly used in the 21st century, as manufacturers have shifted to turbochargers to reduce fuel consumption and/or increase power outputs.

supercharger
A supercharger is a device used in automotive engines that forcibly injects more air into the combustion chamber, enabling the engine to burn more fuel and thus produce more power. It's driven by the engine's crankshaft, usually through a belt connection, and works by increasing the pressure or density of the air supplied to an internal combustion engine. Unlike turbochargers, which are powered by exhaust gases, superchargers are mechanically driven.
Wikidata
Supercharger
A supercharger is an air compressor used to increase the pressure, temperature, and density of air supplied to an internal combustion engine. This compressed air supplies a greater mass of oxygen per cycle of the engine to support combustion than available to a naturally aspirated engine, which makes it possible for more fuel to be burned and more work to be done per cycle, which increases the power produced by the engine. Power for the supercharger can be provided mechanically by a belt, gear, shaft, or chain connected to the engine's crankshaft. When power is provided by a turbine powered by exhaust gas, a supercharger is known as a turbosupercharger – typically referred to simply as a turbocharger or just turbo. Common usage restricts the term supercharger to mechanically driven units.
