Wikipedia
Spermatophyte
A spermatophyte (lit. 'seed-bearing plants'; from Ancient Greek σπέρματος (spérmatos) 'seed', and φυτόν (phytón) 'plant'), also known as phanerogam (taxon Phanerogamae) or phaenogam (taxon Phaenogamae), is any plant that produces seeds, hence the alternative name seed plant. Spermatophytes are a subset of the embryophytes or land plants. They include most familiar types of plants, including all flowers and most trees, but exclude some other types of plants such as ferns, mosses, algae. The term phanerogams or phanerogamae is derived from the Greek φανερός (phanerós), meaning "visible", in contrast to the cryptogamae (from Ancient Greek κρυπτός (kruptós) 'hidden'), together with the suffix γαμέω (gaméō), meaning "to marry". These terms distinguished those plants with hidden sexual organs (cryptogamae) from those with visible sexual organs (phanerogamae).
ChatGPT
spermatophyte
Spermatophytes, also known as phanerogams or seed plants, are plants that produce seeds, rather than spores. This category includes all angiosperms (flowering plants), gymnosperms (conifers, cycads, and allies), and extinct related groups. The seed, which develops from the fertilized ovule (an egg-containing structure), is a protective structure that allows the embryonic plant to survive in a dormant condition when conditions are not suitable for growth.
