    Silvan is a town in Victoria, Australia, 40 km east of Melbourne's central business district. Its local government area is the Shire of Yarra Ranges. At the 2006 Census, Silvan had a population of 1908. A Post Office opened on 19 August 1892 known as Wandin until 1893, Wandin South until 1913, thence Silvan. Silvan is a growing tourist town, with many visitors making the journey to the Tesselaar Tulip Farm in Spring time and to Chappies U-pick fruit farm during the summer. A farming town, Silvan is home to some of the best quality fruits in Australia and boasts ownership of Y.V. Fresh, a large local growers cooperative, and also Chappies, the first u-pick berry and cherry farm to start in Australia. Silvan also is the location of the Silvan Reservoir. The town has an Australian Rules football team competing in the Yarra Valley Mountain District Football League. Silvan marks half way between the Shire of Yarra Ranges two main suburbs of Belgrave and Lilydale, both large towns.
