Schiebel
Schiebel is a company based in Vienna that is a supplier of mine detectors. It is also developing helicopter UAVs, which are bought by United Arab Emirates, which have been ordered by the German Navy and have been used by the Austrian Interior Ministry in late 2006 for test purposes. The company was founded in 1951 as a manufacturer of small electronic components, for example for washing machines, and started with the engineering of mine detectors in the mid 1980s. The U.S. Army placed an order of 18,000 detectors in the late 80s. Since the mid 1990s, the company is also engaged with constructing UAVs. The company has its factory in Wiener Neustadt. In 2006 in employed about 150 people and had a turnover of about 10 million euros.
