  1. Redemptorists

The Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (Latin: Congregatio Sanctissimi Redemptoris), abbreviated CSsR, colloquially known as the Redemptorist Order is a Catholic religious congregation of pontifical right for men. The order was founded by Alphonsus Maria de Liguori in Scala, Italy for the purpose of labouring among the neglected country people around Naples and is dedicated to Catholic missionary work and minister in more than 100 countries. Members of the congregation are solely Catholic priests and friars. The Redemptorists are especially dedicated to “Our Mother of Perpetual Help” and were appointed by Pope Pius IX in 1865 as both custodians and missionaries of the icon of that Marian title, which is permanently enshrined within the Church of Saint Alphonsus Liguori in Rome. The official designated Patroness of the Congregation accorded by its founder is the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Immaculate Conception.
