red clay
Red clay, also known as ultisol, is a type of soil or sediment derived from weathered rocks, particularly granite and gneiss, rich in iron minerals which give it a reddish or orange color. Renowned for its fertility, it is commonly used in agriculture and pottery because of its high nutritional content, good drainage and capability of maintaining moisture. Commonly found in warm, temperate climates, it is usually compact and well-drained.
